Cant bloody believe it......1st night I picked my 99 Turbo Classic up....I went through a speed camera. I got a letter from Merseyside Police this morning.....was caught doing 42mph in a 30 zone......just got carried away......really not impressed with myself.

Whats gona happen? 3 points and a £60 fine? Any chance of me getting away with the points do you think if I write a grovelling letter?

Never had points before so this has been a real awakening. Will my insurance go up a bomb?

Iv had my scoob for a month and iv got 6 points for 2 sp30's. Never had one in my life before.

I wouldnt worry about it i also got three points sp30 £60 fine. I would take the points as a warning as this didnt effect my insurance and maybe purchase a Road Angel??

I got done doin 55mph in a 30 zone and got 3 points and a £60 fine so if you get any more than that i'll be very surprised!
If you want to contest it phone the area you got done and ask to see the photo they took, if it is'nt that obvious it is you in the photo then you may be in with a chance. I know it sounds like a long shot but i know enough people that have made out it is'nt them and got away with it

Thanks lads.....I will call them and ask to see photographic evidence. The car has a snooper installed thats why I am extremely annoyed......however moments before I got done, I switched the thing off as the beeping going through traffic lights etc was annoying the hell out of me....

Has definately made me slow down and be more cautious....

3 points and £60 fine for sure, it's not exactly miles over the limit. Accept the NIP and you might even get away with a fine and a day at a speeding course. Insurance shouldn't go up at all with just 3 points but watch out for the next lot

Asking for photographical evidence is all very well but you still need to have a reason why it wasn't you and be able to prove it, ie someone else driving, evidence you were elsewhere at that time etc. Unless you have a genuine reason to dispute the fine it's not advisable to try and lie your way out of it - could end up being in a whole lot more trouble!

rather than points you may get an option to go on a course to re-educate you on your driving, much better than 3 points, fingers crossed.

This may change after I heard a report on the radio today about a survey that was carried out by a leading insurance company that claim drivers with speeding convictions on their licenses are so many percent more likely to be involved in a crash than those drivers without speeding convictions. See if anything comes of it.

3 points and the £60 fine are fairly painless its the next three that hurt and you will have to bear that in mind for the next 4 years
