Fuel miles per Gallon and tank sizes ??
#1
I have just started to log my fuel stats, I have a MY95 with a rear exhaust (sounds great) and have just filled up at 41.56 litres a tank full which gives me 200 miles (can I get a bigger tank?). So I am getting about 21.86 miles per Gal is this about right? This was with a mixed bag of driving ie motorway cruising thrash and round town.
Oh I am running Optimax at 0.809 per litre !!

I think there is something wrong with my right foot :;
Mine has just return 26mpg on NUL. Always run it on SUL but could not find any on the couple of drips I had left in the tank.
Normally get anywhere between 21 and 30mpg on SUL.

mpg is very car dependant, I'm lucky to see anything approaching 20, yet others on here can see 30, either the cars vary widely or they drive like grannies
Don't know if you can retro fit a later cars 60l tank.

My worst fuel consumption was 15 mpg while my best was 26 mpg and I usually average around 20 mpg I fill up every weekend with sul which costs me around 38 quid and usually get around 220 miles to a tank I dont know why but it is the small 50 litre tank I have even though its a 97my turbo. For tyre pressures see the sidc faq but im sure prodrive recomend 32 front and 30 rear for all tyres and thats what I use on my 17 pirrelis.

My best I have got purely town driving (i.e constant stop start) was 23MPG. On a recent motorway trip I managed 29MPG without even trying (Mostly 90 MPH with some hard acceleration) so I think low 30's on a motorway run is easily achievable for a UK car.
I have never got less than 20 MPG.

I get anywhere beween 15-20mpg depending on all sorts of factors...type of road, density of traffic, my right foot . Think the best I ever managed was 32mpg during the petrol blockade!
Green Scooby...I've got a MY97 too and have often wondered if its only got a 50 litre petrol tank despite what I read elsewhere. I've only ever managed to get a maximum of 48 litres in when filling up. Anyone know for sure if all MY97s had a 60 litre tank?
Car was registered on 1/8/97. I don't fancy running the tank dry just to prove it!

I got 21.5mpg from my first ever "normal" tank of doing the daily grind on SUL. The 99 STi has a 60l tank, i assume, because i put in 49l and the fuel warning light had still not come on. This should come on with about 9l left.
There is not too ,uch spirited driving but it is about half in traffic and the other half pottering about @ 50k's.

Just worked out that my 94WRX has done 19.44 mpg over the past month
I mix of of motorway and spirited country roads driving. 50 L tank becomes a real pain with me visiting Esso up to 3 times a week!

60 litre tank SUL MY00 4 door, 300 miles, time to go to petrol station.
60 litre tank MY01 5 door, as above.
Anticipate and lay off the brakes. Momentum is expensively bought.
Oh and avoid town driving and rush hours.

I have a MY97 which I have had exactly a year.
After the first couple of thousand miles I was only getting just over 21mpg but when last checked after 10,000 miles overall am now getting nearly 24mpg
I only have a 50l tank which is a real pi**er.
I only use NUL.

I've got a MY99 Turbo with SS back box and ITG panel filter, otherwise standard. On Optimax I've been getting 21-22mpg, on SUL I regularly get 28-29mpg ... how weird is that considering its virtually exactly the same driving (a mixture of some hard driving, motorway, urban etc.). The best I've ever got was cruising down to Croatia on SUL (98 RON) at a constant 90-100mph ... 33-34mpg!!! I was pleasantly shocked!!!
