The flip side is that you are more likely to find a better example Uk car cos the jdms seem to (obviously) hold better money.
What I would say is don't buy the first car you see, go and have a good look around and see exactly what £4k will buy...

I have a Uk, genuine car for sale, very good condition, enthusiast owned for £3500. I have driven imports before and they don't feel anymore powerful. 0-60 is around the same.
Personally I would want a full service history on these cars which you don't get usually on an import. Also I saw a lot of imports when looking for mine and they were usually worst for wear.

^^^^That is the car I'd buy if I only had 4k to spend.
Wouldn't feel happy buying a cheap STI and I certainly wouldn't buy a classic WRX over a UK turbo.
