Bel 990 International seems to have a very good reputation. This has just been replaced by the Bel Target 550 Euro, which as the name suggests, is designed specifically for European countries (basically the same box as a 990). Details at www.beldirect.co.uk the site also has links to independent reviews of their detectors.

If you are just looking for a static Gatso detector, then the Geodesy unit is very highly rated. Quite a few people on the board use this. Details at www.morpheous.co.uk

I use a Bel Euro 550, very good, as long as you remember to switch it back on after its irritated the hell out of you going past shop doors and dont get done for 50 in a 30 regardless of having a detector!!!
cause then you'll just feel stupid.
I use mine as much as poss, but it can get to a point where you dont pay it much attention, cause it goes off for everything, even in City mode, so Im considering a Geodesy as well, although I wouldnt rate either as the better detector, simply because the Geodesy cant pick up temporary Gatso's.
Its a good detector, the 550, and has saved me a few times, so has already paid for itself many times over, even detected a temporary Gatso thingy the once, near Biggin Hill, and I was able to saunter past smugly

Get the Bell Euro 550. It is fully digital and you can upgrade it in the future should new frequencies come into play. All 10 frequencies are individually switchable.
Check www.speedtraps.co.uk and other sites to convince yourself.

I've got a Bel Euro550 whatnot & it seems to work well. There's the city problems with it going off all the time, but as far as I can tell that's because it pretty rare for there not to be something tracing you all the time anyway, at least not on the roads which have the speed limit set ridiculously low (30 on a wide 4 lanes???)
Works well as a petrol-station detector as well, I've found Would get the same one again if something nasty happened to this one.
