Your car isn't going to go pop from using a slightly different spec oil, you plums! Just use what the handbook says.

HANDBOOK, HANDBOOK, HANDBOOK ....... only dimwits and idiots chuck anything else in their car - forget anything above £15 for 5 Litres ... you will be wasting your money!!

The expensive Oil is NOT better if the Oil is changed according to Subaru specification ........ it is, and always will be, an utter waste of money!

Let's be serious OK?!

Real Maple Syrup is far, far more expensive than £15.99 a gallon. Even Maple flavoured syrup will cost more - the real thing a lot more

Hate's a strong word... but I hate people who think that a twelve year old ordinary import Subaru is worth only a thousand pounds less than a well-looked-after UK one with FSH and HALF the age.

Hold on Pete! Don't be such a hypocrite, in a recent thread you admitted putting Halfords 5/40 synthetic at £16.99 in your engine?
Slowly but surely you're breaking into the 21st century? I know engineers are logical people but they're usually intelligent enough to take advantage of the developments done by other engineers?
JohnD

PS To get back to the original question - Good quality 5/40 or 10/40 full synthetic. You only need higher viscosity if you take it on track regularly. As good as any in my opinion - www.millersoils.com CFS range
