Default Engine Cleaning

Hi All

I've got hold of some of the CD2 from Halfords. Can someone be kind enough to circle on my engine bay what I should cover up?

Ta

Lou

Went to 3 halford s/stores on tuesday for that stuff and they had all sold out. Was not happy. Had to get the auto glym engine cleaner. Did the job though.
Not bad for a 11 year old engine, runs like a dream 2

Just covered the alternator really

Just the alarm siren, if you know where it is nesting (varies from car to car) they aren't the best in terms of water proofing, so worth covering if possible

Alternator isn't that fussy of water, so no real need to cover it, just avoid direct blasts of water.

Also avoid direct blasts of water to the coil pack (square black bit behind alternator, slightly to the right with four thick wires) and the other end of the spark plug leads.

To be honest this advice only needs to be heeded if you use a jetwasher instead of a hose pipe.

Thanks for the Info ALi-B

I will be using a garden hose with one of those attachments on, so you can control how the water comes out.

Tape over the Chassis/VIN plates too with some masking tape.

Have heard of the CD2 stuff removing the black lettering from them

If using jetwash cover fins on intercooler, especially newage. I bent loads of mine when I jetted it (2 or 3 days after buying!!!)

Firstly, do not use a jet wash on your engine bay, the pressure is enough
to break a seal, a gentle flow will be enough to remove any residue.

Also when using the detailer after cleaning, avoid all the drive belts with
the spray.

CD2 works well.
