Default What is the point of this....

I have noticed on some cars (mainly Jap cars) there is a little plastic tab about an inch long attached to the window frame or in the impreza's case on the A pillar near the top where the glass meets it.

does anyone know what these tab type things are used for? or what is the point of their existance.

Its one less thing to keep me awake at night.

TT

AFAIK they are attachment points for the webs of spiders that live in wing-mirrors.

Some have the radio ariel on the A-pillar so it could be a blanking plug, maybe.

As above...as the car has frameless doors, it's to makes sure the window pops under the door seal when you shut the door/wind up the window.

Although that wouldn't explain why the back windows don't have them

That's correct. It should be on all classics at the very least.
