Unhappy Had a little bump today

Hi, just looking for some advice as after 15 yrs of driving had my first accident (while driving that is).

Just want to know from experience if this will go knock for knock?

Stopped in a residential street, checked behind and all clear, started to reverse - had glanced to my left to check nothing was coming out of culdesac to my rear left then wack!

Had hit a car coming down the street - very low speed and minimal damage to both cars, bumpers cracked on both.

Other driver said they could not get reverse quick enough before I hit them, I did not see them approach so do not know if they were moving and unable to stop or had stopped and I just hit them as I reversed.

No bad feeling from myself or other party and all details exchanged amicably.

Any ideas how the insurance companies will see this?

Cheers

Stephen

It will depend on what the other driver says to their insurers. If they say they were in motion at the time, then maybe 50/50. If they say they were stationary and you have said you were in motion, then their insurer will expect to make a full recovery.

I am afraid if there were not witnesses, it could well be your word against theirs.

if you are reversing and not looking behind you at the same time is that not driving without due care and attention?

A car reversed into me a few weeks ago. As she was reversing the insurance automatically put it down as a fault on her part. If you are in reverse and moving insurance companies see it as your fault these days. (I dont know about both being in reverse though. Would imagine knock for knock in that case).
