i'm going to look at a subaru impreza turbo today, my96 import model. Having never owned a subaru or turbo before what should i be looking out for, are there any usual places to look for rust etc?

Thanks.

I dont know what to suggest to look out for mechanically but if it is a private sale see how much the owner knows about proberly warming/cooling the car before thrashing it, if they use octane booster or if it has been converted to run UK fuel. I am sure someone will tell you what else to look for - I have a UK turbo so wouldnt like to comment.

Auction report, mileage, rust on wheel arches, history. Normal things when looking at a car

check whats coming out the exhaust ie steam, smoke etc could indicate if turbo is knackered

really give it a thrash through the gears etc, check oil especially on imports and what fuel it has been ran on!

hope this helps!
