Sti...Myth or facts
I am looking to get back into scooby ownership soon possibly an Sti this time, but i've heard that the early sti's if driven hard on road or track have a problem keeping oil covering where needed which can lead to low end knocking problems. Can any owners shed some light on this? I've also noticed quite a few advertised scoobs over 60k miles have had engine rebuilds same problems or not i wonder...

Bearing failure is caused by pre-ignition; its a fueling problem. Number three usually lets go first as its at the end of th line and it gets the lowest pressure, thereby leaning out first.....

it went on about the 3rd blip up to about 145ish (yeh i was being silly racing a 350Z, i spanked him 3 times inall )
this was the hottest i had ever got the oil, then the bottom end went.
i know the car was mapped and set up fine, i think i got the oil a bit to hot (125+ degrees C)
i now run a oil cooler, and i use a thicker oil, 15/50 which is ment to handle high temps much better. and its been ok since.
