which holds more value? P1 or Sti bugeye?
hi guys
will be buying a scoob again in this week and been thinking of 2 scoobs...
they are both the same price and their specs :
2001 (Y reg) STI bugeye JDM
38k miles
TEK3 1.6bar 330/330
no FSH
2001 (X reg) P1
70k miles
full STI 9 short block with new pistons, valves, crank...etc. Done 4kmiles sice rebbuild
ECUTEK'd 300+ bhp
6pots front brakes
FSH
if they are both the same price which will hold their value better?? if i was goin to sell it in 1 year?? need some serious advice
many thanks

Good luck with the hunt, no chance of getting your bug back for old time sake?
With the P1, I personally, would avoid the high mileage even though it's had a rebuild, your choice though

As an indication - my P1 is Sept 2000, owned by me from new, 42K miles, cost £31K. Value now circa dunno but guessing around £14Kish or approx 45% of original value -- not too shabby for a 5.5 year old car...
Even including tek 3 and Alcon big brakes at around £2K additional cost still gives 42%+ residual.
Done well so far, but harder question is from now on.

I would prefer the P1 over the bugeye - as I used to own one for 2 years.
Just on resale value alone though, I would think they are pretty evenly matched - maybe the P1 will edge it - but only a couple of hundred quid in it IMHO after 12 months.
Out of all 3 I'd take the Type R at the right price and colour - you can't beat Sonic Blue on a classic.
