Restore back to new or get rid.....
Gents,
Any ideas, I have a 2000 mdl classic turbo as it come out of the factory.
Its done about 110,000 miles now and has a few digs around it and feels a bit tired.
I just cant bring myself to sell it and have been thinking about restore back to new but at what cost lads?
Any idea say what a re-spray, engine rebuild, new brakes, suspension etc.
Car is hardly used now days so a restoration and "keep for best" so to say may be the way to go.
We have a Merc ML, 5 series BMW Touring, MGF and a ZX7R (all rather old so I'm not rich !) that can be used as daily drivers so come on lads what ideas?
Not into bolt on goodies but back to new does sounds good to me.

Roger I dont think it would make financial sense to get your car back to NEW condition.
I would imagine you will be talking several thousands, although not knowing the condition of your engine / bodywork its hard to say.
Not sure how this one can be answered......

I would give the engine a major checkup (cambelt, spark plugs, filters....)
change some bushes (steering rack, front/rear subframe...) also discs, pads....
Then go to a "dent service" and do a detail (contact polishedbliss here in the forum)
Total cost about 1000-1500 `£ I guess and you're up for another 60k or so miles...

I'm in the same boat with my classic (MY98) I have had it five years and it is looking tatty with dings and rust. I have just bought a MY99 Spoiler and am thinking about a splitter. The car will be getting a respray and wheels refurbed. It's going to cost £1500 + but I will have a mint classic at the end of it. It is used as a second car now but I can't bring my self to get rid.

Just been looking at Little Knocks and think I mght go down that route body wise and then maybe the full clinic service, brakes and maybe the suspension as well in the summer. my wife is pretty cool about me keeping the Scooby so I'm sure spending up to a couple of grand will be good money for me in the long run but for sure if the spending starts theres no way its going....ever!
