Question Did the WRX Ra come in RED ?

thinking of purchasing a 94 wrx ra .

It does'nt have side skirts and no fog lamps so thats a tick !

No roof vent either but I think they are only 96 onwards ?

The main worry which puzzles me is that its Red and not the common Ra white ?

Did JDM have a Red wrx ra in 1994 ?

Best thing to do is cross reference the VIN number against the Impreza FAQ, that'll tell you if it's an RA.

I have a red 93 ra, spec is No ABS, no spoilers, rear vents, no roof vent, very close ratio box, IC water spray, oil sprays for underside of pistons, closed deck block and maybe solid lifters on some models/years. No CL/EW etc.

Very rare in red i'm told

Yes, a 1994 Wrx Ra could be red. It shouldn't have a roof vent, it's the STi Ra's that have them.

Also look for the intercooler water spray.

As Normski has stated; A and B series Type-RAs are available in 'Vivian Red' and C(1)-Series cars are available in 'Active Red'. WRX Type-RA models do not come with a roof vent; this is an ignorantly-perpetuated myth..... as is DCCD!

no DCCD did not appear until late V2 STi cars.................

we have a customers '94 RA in the garage at the mo' for an engine upgrade, that was converted by us about 2yrs ago from a RED road car into a "stage" car...............confirmed by the VIN plate at the time that it was original

No, definately not. DCCD appeared in the 1995 model year STI Type-RA which was an altered production car (Type-RA Applied Model Number); they are all white with a roof vent.

People tend overlook the fact that in the Classic Impreza range, the Type-RA was the cheapest entry-level model; not the most desirable (thats arguably the WRX STI Type-RA).

DCCD was available before the 'Version 2' STI cars were built; as explained above.

And typically the RA of 1993/4 didnt have a rear spoiler and the mirrors are not colour coded...

WRX RA's didn't have coded mirrors/handles ever in the classics. Except for the V Ltds & Ltds

Very true,

But how desirable are the closed decks now over the std blocks.

DCCD was available from 17 November 1994, I'm told, on the STi Type RA.

The early STi RA's were built to order and the customer could choose whatever specifications they wanted to have. Therefore, not everything is clearly black and white. The same applies to some of the other variants.

As Henry Ford (almost) said: "You can have any colour you like (in an STi RA) as long as it's black (white)".

What do you mean "cheapest entry level" it was build for rallying etc hence no fancy bits like big brakes and big intercoolers as most people binned them in favour rally spec parts.

Cheap entry level..how dare you

Its more desirable than a basic WRX IMO
