Living with the new Impreza WRX
#1
I presume the PPP is the prodrive performance pack costing £1600? I just wanted to know if the new shape subaru (is this the MY01??) is a good motorway crusier as well as a B road master...and how is it generally to live with?

I got my MY01 WRX in August as my daily driver and I luuuurve it! My last daily car was an Audi A4 2.4 - do I miss the refinement, toys, fuel economy? Do I buggery (well maybe the economy a little bit )! I smile on the way to work, I take the long route rather than the motorway and sod the petrol. I go out for drives in it - not going anywhere - just driving.
I've got a couple of classic (read old + shagged!) BMWs, and love them though I do I still find myself taking out the Scoob for my "recreational" drives - the Audi never got a look in.
I almost went for an M3, but the Scoob is amazing VFM and making that choice seems less of a compromise every time I drive it.
If you got your Golf for the sporting values "GTI" used to convey, rather than the rather bloated fashion statment it's become, then you should love it too.
Drive one and see.

Got an MY01 Wagon and I lovvvvvvve it!!!
The only trouble with motorways is tyre noise from the standard Bridgestone rubber, but if you do lots of miles consider changing to something a little more aural friendly......oh and those concrete roads are even worse.
Of course the best thing to do is add a scoobysport back box and a nice ICE system and drown out the outside world.
Edited to get my smilie right!

I've got an MY01 4 door, and I love it.
Negative points;
Duncan
Negative points;
- fuel consumption - it goes down to below 25 mpg if you use the performance a lot on twistie roads.
- stereo - somewhat average as standard.
- security worries - a lot of thieves appear attracted to them.
- the chassis is so good that you soon want more power than is standard.
