Default WRC 350 performance pack??

Anyone on here had one fitted? I'm thinking of having it on MY 03 sti ppp.
Interested to hear if you guys think it will be worth the money and if it makes alot of difference to a ppp'd sti.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thinkm you may have to buy another ecu mate as the prodrive 1 you have fitted cant be mapped, dont quote me on that.

Is that included in the price they have advertised? I thought they used the prodrive ecu that's why they offer packs for sti's with ppp and without?

Now i'm confused!

Can anyone help us out?

it isnt a prodrive ecu you have its the standard ecu thats got a prodrive map on it, they will most likely reuse that ECU...so yes, mapping is includedin the price.

If you have ppp then your ecu has been replaced when you had ppp fitted and those ecus cant be remapped.

MMmmm now i'm realy tempted!! So they re-map the ecu i already have is that correct? What else is fitted then, just the aps tmic and induction kit??

What's the sound like? Would i lose the distinct subaru engine burble?

Cheers guys.

IIRC and slihtly in lamans terms nope since the burble is created by the two sides of the engine having to run slightly out of sink to get the same power delivery, due to having unequal length exhaust manifolds. Since these are not changed you will not loose the burble

On the 350PPP package the original Prodrive exhaust is retained. Why discard a perfectly good exhaust system? You've got to decide whether the small benefit gained by replacing the system is worth the considerable extra cost.

There are 2 WRC350 packages available, one for with PPP & one without.

http://www.wrc-tech.co.uk/subaru-04sti-WRC350.htm with PPP

http://www.wrc-tech.co.uk/subaru-04sti-WRC350.htm without PPP.

It's no wonder people get confused.

First someone says you can't remap a PPP ecu

Then someone says the WRC350PPP package doesn't utilise the existing exhaust.

Default So,,,,

What is the realistic bhp gains just for a remap on an sti with ppp
The wrc 350 package for the sti ppp seems a little steep to me.
If i could obtain 330ish from just a remap i'd pay the money....

probably get close to 330 with a remap & fuel pump.

edited as the PPP has the fuel pump.

speak to Allan or Chris at WRC.

Different RR's with the same car can show quite large differences.

My Tek3'd 05PPP shows 315bhp.
Just PPP recorded 285bhp.

However - more important is the way the torque has increased across the whole rev range - particularly from 5k-6.5k.

One thing to consider is having noisekiller sound proof your car (so you don't have so much of the induction kit noise). I recently had it done for my car and the difference it makes is really good. Not only in sound but in vibration it actually feels like I've upgraded my suspension. The ride actually feels softer.
I may put a write up on the site just in case others are considering it.

Not the good noises remembering that it takes a lot of thick material to get rid of bass (e.g. the low engine and exhaust notes) however all that road noise is reduced a lot. The vibration is the biggy for me. It just feels like the suspension has absorbed all those vibrations but of course it's the sound proofing. I use mine as a daily driver and have a good sound system in there so for me the additional weight (maybe 10 - 18kg not sure) is well worth it as I have sti ppp and I don't really feel any difference (may go the wrc350 route myself).

I dont really care if its exspensive to be honest adn from my RST days i would prefer to seek advice and buy it in stages from exactly what the best tuner(s) say. If that means x exhaust and y induction kit and z turbo first then ill do that rather then buy a package cosi save a few £££'s. Not in any way a slate on the WRC / APS kits, as i havent experienced either.

Thanks for the offer mate! Think i'm just going to go for it. Have a couple of questions for you though....

Did you have the exhaust changed from the pro drive one? They don't advertise it as part of the pack.
Is the noise of the induction kit very noticeable?
Did your insurance premium go up by much?

Thanks again.

David.

test drove this and the JDM 360 at WRC - the JDM WAS fast the 350 (Bug) was hesitant / surgy (MAY have been fuel)

Webmaster's New age upgrades suggest a Scooby ex = panel + a couple of low cost items can exceed this power (though based at the moment on a twin scroll - but watch this space..)
