Thumbs up Forget the warranty let's get tinkering!!

Fellas two and a half quick questions The need for tinkering has arrived...

Having done some searching here and on the web- i can't find some general answers or definitive answers

Does an induction kit such as the Blitz SUS Power Induction Kit require an engine remap? Is it something i can fit myself? How badly could it go wrong?? Dump valves- are there adjustable ones out there- i would like resonable rumble on everyday driving but adjustable to roar on tunnel runs/cruises etc

I'd like to change all the hoses for samco-type hoses - simple job? Is it something i can fit without specialist tools any idea which set it is on the samco site- is it

TCS135/C-A Impreza New Age/Vers 8 WRX 01~04 ( set of 9 pipes)

-even though mine is 05 which there isnt on the site!!

Strut braces front, back, lower - Is it something i can fit without specialist tools- ie I dont have a torque wrench

Cheers in advance
Trevor

blitz sus is a really crap filter....dont bother. A good panel filter will be fine.

There are adjustable DVs out there, although people wll tell you not to bother...(turbosmart is one i know of)

samcos are a doddle....

I never bothered with a torque wrench to do my strut bars, but im sure its handy, a socket set will do.

Dump valves dont rumble or roar they let air pressure out of the turbo when you change gear. Some are adjustable, all are annoying after a while IMHO

Induction kits while give you a sound similar to the turbo spooling up, but more pornouced.

I would suggest that on your car neither will improve performance, both may have an adverse affect.

A good panel filter - the topmount scoop filter ? I was thinking STI one, etc If the air flow is adjusted with any aftermarket intercooler does the ecu need a remap? would i need a bigger scoop ie an STI one ( i have a wrx ppp)

Ive read lots on the DV debate- but like some i like the noise- but not driving round my nans- but on cruises and tunnel runs -so was just looking for an adjustable one really

Ok so forgetting the DV and induction- they were bottom of my list really

As i said i wanna get 'in there and get my hands dirty' so a better panel, (with bigger scoop?), better hoses, struts are a start then?

i'm thinking prodrive springs but i'll get a professional to do those i think!!

the ppp is downpipe and backbox so is it worth thinking about upgrading the centre section?

I think the brakes need upgrading but that can wait (lots of money!) how hard are they to do yourself? i'm quite hands on but i dont have all the tools a mechanic would have...

Thanks again

You're not filing me with confidence that you can do anything other than change the panel filter on your own.....

What do you mean you wanna ''get in there''? change injectors, top mount, re-map, pistons? or just un-bolt something and fit a new filter?

Take your wheels off and clean your arches then!

No point in you going under the bonnet playing around with stuff that could ultimatly reduce your car's life expectency!

Blitz is crap filter!
Dump valve is an easy task, but thats down to personal preference whether you put one on or not, many of us do have them, others dont!

Yeah I suppose it's like that really but I wanna get in there and you have to start somewhere!

Clearly some bits are just a straight swap i was just asking because there may have been issues with 'easy' stuff

Anyway thanks for the advice

I'll get me coat

If you want to get in there, then just do some routine maintence and cleaning around the engine bay to familiarize yourself with whats in the bay, then ask some more questions and before you know it your a fountain of impreza knowledge!

If you want to get involved then you could help me whip my bumper off this weekend
