Thumbs up Took Out a Legacy Type B Today

Estate version, December 2004 car - with 13,000miles - ex Subaru car.

The rear tailgate looked a different shade to the rest of the car, certainly the plastic top spoiler was a different shade ...... I don't think this is normal? I reckon it's had a rear ender?

The dealer had a new one in the showroom, at £28k .............. this one, 13 months old was £18k

Thats one hell of a financial smack A private buyer certainly couldn't or wouldn't take a hit like that!?

Anyway, it drove really nice ...... comfortable, smooth, powerful, Sat.Nav., leather, sunroof, climate, SMART dashboard, very good ............

Well, it was nice ...... then I got back into my old trusty Impreza and it was GREAT!! I'm just not ready for an Old Folks Wagon yet, obviously.

The dealer expressed a great interest in my Impreza - he can sell all he can get of 6 year old Imprezas apparently?! They fill a vast void of cars like these priced at sub £10k .............. 'the one owner Imprezas which are clearly cared for are thin on the ground at 6 years old'

So, the Legacy is good ................ but the Impreza is better!

BTW there was a White 06 STi awaiting its new owner ..... the owner had asked for white wheels instead of Gold - nice one mate!! The White actually looks really nice in the 06 shape!

been running one of these for the past year - very nice "grown up" car - but just changed back to impreza cos i enjoy driving and the legacy kinda dulls down that whole experience for me.

Another vote for the Twin Turbo Brigade

While not as pin sharp as the Impreza, we go just as quick, can carry more, and better equipped

Well, he rang me back today ..... £13,200 to change ..... I don't think I liked it that much!

A further discussion made £12,500 look on the cards ..... still too much!

Oh no.. PS Lewis buys a Spec B, as if my depreciation isn't bad enough as it is.

I hear knocklinks, synthetic oil and gold wheels are fitted as standard.

I'm shocked at the depreciation to be honest .... very capable car it may be, but bloody hell - what a sting in the wallet awaits those who buy one too new

Thanks Paul, by the way, good result at the weekend.

Pete, yeah tell me about it, it's gotta be the worst depreciating car on the road.

Was thinking about one of those for my missus... pretty good at towing I'd imagine.

Go on Pete, you know you really want it. Perfect for those increasingly frequent trips to the garden centre

Well now ........ my Impreza + £12,500 for a Legacy that will lose 60% in the next 2 years.

OR .......

Keep my Impreza, spend £12,500 on a nice 10,000mile MX5, sell my MX5 and buy a nice 42" LCD SCreen and a £1200 Bed? + have a couple of £1000's left over?? The bonus is that the MX5 will only lose 15% over the next 2 years!!

Difficult choice ................... So ...... I'm off to see an overpriced MX5 tomorrow at a Mazda Dealer

Legacys are just too expensive for a car that will lose so much .... they may well be better than a BMW - but they cannot compete in the Residual stakes.

Wink

Pete, don't give up!
Get a decent second-hand B4 & let someone else have the depreciation. They seem to hold their price quite well.
Obviously the only choice for the more mature, decerning & style conscious sporting gentleman Subaru owner.(I know,I've got one, but don't let that put you off)

If you were at Webbers in Basingstoke, then I saw the same car when I was there. Very, very smart!

I bet he did - if the Legacy was up for £18k and he wanted £13,200 to change, he's only giving you £4,800 for your one owner, never been thrashed, totally standard and immaculately maintained (despite the cheapo oil and lack of cocklink ) Impreza. Even at £12,500 to change it's too much imho.
