Default Octane Booster

Alrite gents

im currently using some Millers OB....no idea if it does anything but ill keep putting it in and hoping...

Just wondered what other people use...its a bit frustrating at the moment as I have to keep buying about 10 little bottles of the OB at a go...you only use it once n throw it away...surely I can get some big tin of octane booster?

perhaps another make or something

just wanted some thoughts n suggestions

cheers

Try NF, Nitrous Formula, available from RCMS and many other locations.
You use 1ml per litre so a bottle will do 5 or 6 tank fulls. It is worth getting a 50ml plastic measuring cup from a chemists to measure the correct amount.

I've just brought some NF Race. I got that as I've heard the most positive comments about it on this forum. A full bottle mixed with 50ltrs of fuel will give +6 RON! (or thats what it says on the bottle) but costs about £13 a bottle.

I got it as I'm going to be doing some trackdays this year and so will be driving the car harder (higher up the revs) and I didn't want to take any chances with it running lean.

Having put about 3/4 of a bottle in at my last fill up by accident (the bottle's black so you can't see how much is going in) I must now be running at least 103 RON, though I can't say I've felt any difference.

Castrol do a good one (can't remember the name) comes with a measure under the cap, so dead easy to use as well.

Adding octane booster increases the fuels ability to prevent knock (detonation).

There are a million threads on here already talking about octane booster.

You won't benefit from putting too much booster in normal circumstances. If the car is set up for 100RON, then it will run at 100 fine, but 101 won't make it any better in theory (unless something is amiss).

I'm currently using ProBoost and it seem's fine.

Iv'e also used NF and to be honest I can't tell any difference, that said
I don't have a Knocklink so can't comment on the activity.

Nf is in a black bottle as it's light sensative by the way.

Beyond 3mls/l I don't think the improvements are linear. ie the benefit of exceeding 3 mls/l tails off.
If you add NF fot the first time you need to do an ECU reset to let the ECU learn the new advance settings it can run at. Alternatively you need to run the NF for a couple of tankfulls at least to allow the ECU to sort itself out.
There are noticable improvements to be had on Jap cars that are mapped for 100 RON. If yours is a UK car mapped for 95 RON, I doubt there would be a noticable improvement in performance without a remap.

I use the nf race formula in every tank, i have a jap import. i notice a differece when i run out. the car doesn't drive as smooth for the first tank or so.

have a look in the group buy section. i hear that someone is doing a group buy at £9.50 + vat and postage per bottle for the nf stuff
