Swap a 05 WRX PPP for a rs4????
I have been offred a 5 year old Audi RS4 Avant, immaculate condition with 57K on the clock, 1 owner, FAudiSH.
I could sell my 05WRX with PPP Eibachs, Sat Nav etc and buy the Audi.
But would you swap a 1 year old car with 16K on it for a 5year old car with 57K on it..even if it did have 380bhp????
Dilemas, Dilemas.......
PS the Audi is in that blue that all RS4's should be in... cash price sould be about £22-23K

I can afford the car, but it would be a every day car, as is my WRX.. Approx annual milage is 15K

scoobs are hard to sell, not sure about the RS4. I would expect yours to still be loosing a fair amount per year for the next 2 years. The RS4's depreciation should have slowed down BUT it still may depreciate more than the wrx just because its a higher value car. Will also depend on how many miles you are going to put on it........
If you like it and can afford it buy it, thats what i say

The fact you've had to ask for advice here makes me feel you have doubts. The Audi is long out of warranty. If the worst were to happen do you have the cash put by for repairs. It is 5 yrs old ...

i wouldnt swap because of mileage of car, though its not that high for a audi, i would keep scoob. though the aboves comments on the audis deprication slowing is a good point. whereas your scoobs gonna still drop some.

I have to say this is a great car, and a car I have always wanted.....
The hearse thing is true BUT i have a wife, 1 yr old and camping equipment to think about, a Avant would come in useful. I can afford to run the car as long as I don't have a major incident.ie. engine meltdown, but I am hard driver,
My philiosphy "you don't buy a colour TV and watch it black and White...." .
I don;t think I could trackday a 5 year old car....

Go for the RS4. OUr MY05 are worth bugger all now.... and the RS4 is more power, nicer drive and more prestige and will probably last longer than the Scooby anyway.

Suggest you drive the Audi for a day to see what you think, just because it has 350+BHP does not necessarily make it a better (drivers) car.
You may love it or hate it. Also have a look into servicing and such, if it had done 57K then when is the next service due and what does it entail, could be a 'bend over biggie' service.
Audis can go on for big miles no problems then agian so can Scoobs.

Yep at that mileage its probably due a new cambelt which won't be very cheap. Having said that you'll never know unless you take the plunge - buy it, run it for a year, if it doesn't work out sell it - it probably won't lose as much money as the MY05 WRX.

why would anybody who owns a car worth 22-23k (as you say) want to swap with a car that is worth around 14-15k?
seems a great deal to me. if nothing else do the swap, sell the audi and make a load of cash in the process. it all sounds a little too good to be true imo.
either way the audi is an awesome mota.

Good luck selling the WRX. The way things are going I'll be selling my MY05 WRX SL Wagon with PPP in the next few months as moving abroad and I am not looking forward to the prospect from what many others have outlined on here in the past - seems to be a glut of them and many in dealers going for peanuts. And I'm one of the mugs who paid for PPP when the offer wasn't on the MY05. Cook Pass Partidge (Subaru) gits!

That plus the Eibachs plus the Pagid front pads plus the Pioneer Avic X-1 Sat Nav, Bluetooth handsfree, has made it a very expensive 12months if I do decide to sell. I could remove the phone / sat nav but I think they may help to sell the car????
Any body want to make an offer for my WRX SL PPP (Crystal Grey) with the above mods in the region of £20K and I definately swap.............................................. ............................
Carn't hear the phone ringing................
Nope,,,, Still not ringing......

I really love the RS4 but could not bring myself to sell my MY05 WRX PPP Wagon for one as you describe ......
I sold an 11 month old S2000 for a TVR Griffith 500 which was as mint as it could be and 5 years old ...... I still have the Griffith and nothing has gone wrong with it but I wish I had never done it.
I know it is certainly not comparing like with like with a Griffith but a 5 year old car will never feel like a 1 year old one. The TVR is stunning in many ways but I do miss the S2K - just be fully aware of the implications of what you are considering, not least the financial ones!

On the topic of WRX Wagon and the PPP, I am in the process of buying a '54' plate WRX wagon and was considering having the PPP done.
However the current owner reckons that £1600 for the PPP is "dead money". Given the posts above, are prospective buyers put off by PPP cars ? Even if they are cherished low-mileage examples ?
I wanted to get it done because I've just sold my BMW ZM Coupe (for practical reasons, but she was a lovely fierce beast) and for the replacement wanted something with at least a bit of poke.
Cheers
