Default Scooby search ended at last!!

I have had the worst experience in finding my self a nice clean Impreza WRX.

Set off early with my freind who was my 'walking stick', we had a fair few to see, first stop was a jap place in Keighley, well stocked up but that was really it! Every single car needed some money thrown at!, ripply bodywork, overspray, dodgy backends. There was not one car which 'looked right'.

Then we headed off to Bradford to see a few backstreet dealers, same all thing, one of them described the cars as 'mint', the only thing which a mint had in common was the hole. There were dash holes everywhere, boost controllers hanging off, wheels buckled .....

finally we headed off to the Jap Performance place. They had some tidy motors which made a change, the only downfall was the scooby i fancied they'd had a deposit on that!, bugger.

Anyway he had a fresh scooby which caught my attention, standard with jap history AND a nice exhaust system. Tyres were all like new, Cambelt replaced. My mate got his overalls & got down to business, we spent 1 & half hour inspecting it!

Only thing he picked out was the front indicator had a small crack & the interior light bulb was bust!!, The garage said the'll sort all the niggles. That did me fine, placed the deposit & picking it up on Thursday!

Its an M/1995 which i'm told is the 260bhp model. Did the deal at 3900. He offered to have the car serviced too!

SORTED

Oh forgot to mention they offered to fit a CAT1 Toad a1606 alarm for £275, thought i'd shop around to find a cheaper deal.

Anyone know a decent Audio/Alarm place around Sheffield end.

Cheers

Certainly looks as though they sell quality mate, so well done

Be sure to ask what's been done though on the service, you want
a decent oil, filter change, also find out as you have history (Rare)
when the cambelt was done, it's vital, if it lets go it's big money.

Well done , but make sure the tyres are rated for higher speeds once its derestricted. They maybe new but if they are only good for 112 mph, you may want better.

I was gonna travel down from Newcastle to have a look at Keighley before I got mine, spoke to a mate, pointed me to a post on MKIVsupra.net I think, ummm, don't think I'll go there.

All their cars are supposedly right dogs.

haha you can say that again. Most been resprayed, not like theres anything wrong with a "proper" respray but its like a some new kid has spray painted them. Interior with heavy scuffs or rips. Every car I asked to start up, i got responses like o timing belt is ripped, battery dead, immobilizer not working etc etc.

But surprisingly, they sell more cars than we can think

I once considered a Nissan 200SX from Keighley Trade before I knew of their reputation. The salesman crashed it into another car getting it out of the showroom for my test drive I walked away and will never return

lol, We did'nt go upto the test drive stage, everything seemed as if it had been sitting around for ages. It seemed like walking into the 'Haunted House' at Alton Towers.

I bought my scoob from Keighley trade centre, and had the engine rebuilt after 3 weeks at a cost of £1200!

To be fair though I traded in a GTO which needed a gearbox rebuild and they gave my £3500 for it!!
But when they took my trade in they just looked at the bodywork, didn't check the engine, start it up or anything, avoid like the plague!!

Anyway's nice buy there mate, I would recommend you buy the alarm at that price too, I had the same on my Scooby, and paid about the same price (maybe £250). but it's a quality alarm.

That is very cheap, is it CAT1 Insurance approved?, i'm leaving it down to the garage, as i don't want to take the risk of a break in.

Keighley !

Had a look there for a Celica once and after 5 minutes looking at the crap on the forecourt I lost all faith in their 'standards'.
