Suppose if you get it checked out independently, and it checks out fine, then at that price, it would be a good deal.
However, I don't think I could ever buy a damaged car. It might be fine but there would always be a doubt in my mind.
Have you got any pics??

Managed to dent my scoob not too long ago. Drivers side quarter and front crossmembers. £360 for a new quarter and £240 for the crossmembers, both from RCMS. £1500+vat quote for labour and spraying. So parts wise you be looking at £360 (qp), £150 complete door (fleabay, one on right now), £50 (wing). All + labour. So maybe £3k to fix, plus the £6k for the car means you need to sell it for no less than £9k not to make a loss. Even though it will be a cat d i should think that you would be able to sell it for around that price with low milage and current market values. If you intend on keeping it you will have had the joy of owning one of the best scoobs going.

I'd say go for it mate. You'd be saving quite a bit on buying one elsewhere and if its for your use and your happy to drive it knowing the full extent of the previous damage, it sounds like a good deal. Just remember when the time to sell it comes, you'll be getting a good couple of grand less for it than the market value.
Thats what i had to decide on mine. (ver.6 type r v.ltd). Could have bought a replacement with the offer from the insurance company but if i repair if i'll end up with quite a healthy bank balance which will compensate for the loss in value. Plus its been retired as a road car and getting prepped for competition.
I'd get an independant specialist to look at it and quotes for labout and parts. The chassis might be twisted which will mean its a total write off and there might be hidden damage. Even if it costs you just 8k to get it on the road, you could get an undamaged one for only 2k more with the market the way it is......

There's another thread a bit further down entitled "P1 engine gone pop - help!" with comments about several P1 engines doing this around the 45,000 mile mark.
Might be worth a read.
