I am approaching 6 months now and I still havent recieved my excess from Admiral. It wasnt even my damn fault, a third party claim and I get the raw deal.
This sucks.

Exclamation

If they have told you in writing that you will get the excess back then

Take a trip to the solicitor and for 20 quid they'll write a nice letter telling them to cough up with interest, the cost of the letter and the an amount for the amount of time you've spent sorting it out.

I'd have to recommend the solicitor approach also.

An insurance company once tried to not pay me my claim (with some stupid excuse about being in the pipeline - for 5 months!).

One little letter from the solicitor and I got the cheque (and an apologetic letter) from the company - and all within 10 days!

I know how you feel - it is not a good feeling to know that your insurer (or former insurer) is trying to take the pi55.

...Should use a decent insurance broker M8...

Oh, yea, just remembered....you do now ...

Cem, just out of interest...were Admiral your insurers, or the Third Party insurers?

If the latter, what correspondence have you had from them?

More to the point, do you want a helping hand from this end? If so give me a call and I'll try and assist - If I can't, I know a friendly Subaru Impreza Turbo driving, legal minded solicitor who might be able to assist with regard to the letters...

Speak soon.

Cem,

Took me 11 months and 1 court appearance to get Admiral to pay back my excess after being hit from behind and Adnmiral agreeing to a 'like for like' settlement with the ohter guys company.

Admiral w*****s, read all the threads on the BBS about them and make your own mind up.

I think you'll find most insurers are the same.. at least in my experience! I found the best way is to keep phoning them and make a nuisance of yourself.. They'll get fed up in the end...

Oh and always try to speak to the same person when you phone up....

It happens with a lot of insurance companies

Great at taking your money

S***e at giving it back.

Have to agree with everyone above. Unfortunatley a solicitor is always the way to go and you can normally re-coup the costs.

Good luck
