Forester xt
A bit of info if you please! Is there anyone out there who will fiddle!!! with these? And if so what sort of increase from the standard 177bhp could I expect! Ideally I would like around 220bhp....is this possible?

Make your way over to subaruforester.org - plenty of FXT owners over there who like a 'fiddle'
tbh the Forester tuning scene is much bigger in the US - can be hard to get Forester specific stuff over here but the good news is a lot of Impreza bits will go straight on
I've got a MY06 2.5XT and have already put a Prodrive 330 big brake kit on and with a replacement 3" Miltek exhaust from powerstation / filter and remap it should be good for 280bhp. Change the turbo/injectors/fuel pump/intercooler and 330bhp is in range...
There again you could just get a Forester sti

I assume you are talking about the 2.0. Plenty of Forester owners on here, but even more on subaruforester.org so worth a look over there.
Yes, there are plenty of cost-effective upgrades to exhaust, mapping and turbo, using Impreza bits. Even more importantly, the handling can be made much better with appropriate suspension bits and decent wheels/tyres. I would think 220 bhp is entirely possible.
This article (although written for the Australian model) should give an idea:

No I'm not mate!!!!
I'm just contemplating a forester at the mo, and will probably go for a 2.5xt anyway.
