Fuel Light .... and Fuel Gauge ....
The fuel gauge acted up 18 months ago where, when the pointer was just on the top of the 'E', it would drop to empty pretty quickly (like you had a leak).
It would then recover and be OK until the pointer reached the top of the 'E' again (on new fuel).
Anyway, the 'fault' rectified itself ......................... until this week.
But the fault is different now - the gauge does not now drop quickly when the pointer reaches the top of the 'E' .............. the Low Fuel light comes on!!??
Weird??
Anyway, has anyone had this happen?
And, how do I get to the sender unit? Is it under the back seat? Wagon.

probably what happened was when you filled the tank last year it appeared to cure the issue and because of your excellent mpg you have simply forgotten exactly how the fault manifested itself!!
or maybe its just sticky and slow to react, after all a fill-up once a year can't be good for anything...........................

I have decided that the ONLY way I will get help here would be either:-
a. Post in the correct technical forum - as I don't visit there I guess they may not know me??
or
b. Post as a Newbie in Trouble - maybe a female one too?? About 22 years old, single, blond and over here from Sweden with no friends and sooooooo, soooooooo lonely??
Which would get the most help?? ...............................

Well, if you're going to insist in driving like a pillock right down to the empty level, what do you expect? Keeping the tank over 1/4 full means you never have to worry, and unless you have a paticularly heavy right foot, this ought to be easy.

this normally occurs through hard cornering.

Don't worry, mine gets run down to the last drop regularly - no fuel starvation with me.

I thought the fuel starvation myth was to do with cornering sharply??
Now, ScoobtNet is a wonderful place, it's got its nutters - but, are YOU seriously telling me that you need to be exceeding 3000 RPM to corner sharply??
