A "friend of mine" is going to court soom for speeding!
Do they take your lisence off you after telling you how many points you are going to recieve, or do you have to send it in at a later date?
Thanks

You have to take it with you to court - I think its an offence if you don't.
They keep hold of the license, put the points on and then send it back (mine took about a week). I think its the court that put the points on (not DVLA) although obviously DVLA are notified.
Cheers,
Ian.

Whenever someone I know quite well has been issued with points their licence has had to be posted to Swansea but then I suppose that was in the days of paper licences - could well be different now they're plastic.

I was banned for 4 months when i had a blow out and this caused me to spin off the road. They deamed it was all my fault and i had to go to court. The judge told me i was getting 16 wks ban and 250 sheets. I left and had to send my licence to dvla. It was returned with the endorsement on the paper counter part. I did not hand my licence over in the court.
Hope this helps.

You should take your licence - if it's the new style both plastic and paper sections. The court will (should) check for endorsements on it. They will endorse the paper part and send it to DVLA. Or at least that was the system when I was one of these nice people that sat in court wearing a gown and helping to administer justice to the lieges
