Default fuel advice

just got a wagon 93 import told it had been changed to run on uk fuel would i know if it had not or would it not be obvious till something bad happens

You say, you have been told it's been changed to run UK fuel.

Did whoever told you this have any paperwork etc to support
the claim, if not i would take it with caution.

You will be OK running it on just Optimax as the map on the
wagon is not as aggressive as on the saloon.

Run on optimax to be safe.

Of all Japanese imports an early 'Wagon is the one most able to run on UK pump fuel. Small turbo; unaggressive map and the fact that higher octane fuel wasnt available in Japan when it was made all mean that it should run quite well on Optimax. Fitting a 'Knocklink' wouldnt do any harm though.....

Based on what youve told us so far Id be dubious about the UK fuel claim if I were you. The only way to adapt an early car is with a 'ScoobyECU'. The originals didnt suit 'Wagons at all; if it was a newer one, mapped to suit, then the £500+ expense would certainly have been well-described as its such a strong selling point.
