Default A rebuild either side of xmas......what a @$£"%"!@@

This morning, I completed the 1000th mile of my running in regime which was damn excruciating - pottering about for 3 or 4 weeks and in a 'driving miss daisy' stylee.....

So.....the time came for an oil and filter change and chance to see what the car was really like with the decat + uppipe - both in terms of performance and sound.

I filled her up, made sure she was well warm and started to drive a little faster. It all came as a shock as I'd got used to pottering and visited 6.5k rpm a couple of times on a warm run....

The car pulled very nicely and I distinctly felt that she was a little more torquier (sp)....

Stopped at a pub to get some grub and all seemed rosy. i even cleaned her today and she looked stunning again.

Started her up and pulled away from the pub car park full, belly full of steak and pottered back towards town.

Over the music, I heard a familiar knocking noise....so the tunes were turned off....in shock and disbelief i slowly accelerated and rolled off the throttle and it was there again! The damn knocking...the crank had fallen out with the engine again!

In all, I did 16 miles post oil change at a mediocre pace and it went. I'm hoping it's just 'one of those things' but I'm just damn jinxed with cars....

At least the repairs are gonna be done under warranty as per the previous rebuild...

I'm also glad I've had a beer now, been cheered up by the mrs in a way only she can.....and chilled out....

It's no lie to say I was nearly in tears driving her to the garage....

Sorry to hear that fella. Might be worth posting this on the tech section, last thing you want his to have to re-build a 2nd time. Did the garage diagnose why the engine failed in the 1st place, eg was the maf at fault? If so did the garage change it? Did they flush the oil galleries clean, could metal particles have got on the bearings?

Good luck.

It was JD Performance in Derby....

The re-build wait aint the worst bit - it's the running in!! 1000 miles of tedium......very little pleasure in that one.

Im in the same boat as you mate luckily i manage to get 500 miles out of the car after the run in phaze before she went bang again!

Both times due to oil pump failure!!

Think its time to move on and get rid as im scared sh*tless to even put my foot down now incase it happens again.

Was the oil pump replaced during the rebuild - might have been a good move.
Also was the (not **** just extra careful) 'correct' oil change procedure followed including the pre-fil filter etc ) as there do seem to be a number of people that have had b/e failure soon after an oil change.
