smelly scooby
hi guys.
havnt posted anything for a while but have been reading all the posts.
well had the scoob 3months now [sti 8 03 ppp] and am really starting to enjoy the car. my first initial doubts about scoobs have now gone.
its been on a rolling road recently and got 313bhp which i am chuffed wiv its standard ppp with a different exhaust not sure wot one but sounds lovely.
one thing i have noticed is that the car sometimes smells of fuel or like its runing to rich but surely if it was to rich it would show up on the dyno?
its booked in at the $tealer nxt week for them to look at because it has 8months manufactures warranty left on it.
but they havnt exactly been the most helpfull $tealer ive came across so dont hold out much hope with them.
any one else experienced this smell/problem before??
regards Lee

The rolling road won't show you if it's running rich unless they plug a laptop in and monitor what the ECU is telling them.
You could buy yourself an air/fuel gauge (+ pod), that'll give you a constant reading of the air/fuel mix that the engine's running with.
Or if you a few hundred quid to spair, buy a S.P.E.C.S unit
The $tealer should be able to tell you what it's been doing if they access the ecu as well.

p.s. Have you checked whether the smell is worse in the back or the boot, if it is you may have a leaky fuel pump? It's in the boot, under a small plate behind the rear seat on the driver's side.
