Question for fellow wagon owners
#1
Following on to the thread about whether 4 or 5 doors is best, I notice 1 or 2 comments about putting sound insulation in the boot area of the wagon.
Does this really make a big difference??
What do you use for insulation??
Is it just the floor area and round the spare wheel that you need to do??

I've got a My'99 5 door, and used sound deadening material from a car audio specialist, its a self adhesive rubberised foam like material. I think a couple of the brands are Dynamat and Brown Bread. Had to use a heat gun to set the glue though. There is already some kind of insulation material in the boot area so I basically covered the wooden spare wheel cover.
It has cut down the amount of road boom in the rear, and has also toned down some of the noise from the Magnex back box I've got fitted.

We find the best thing is a fat pooch and a fleecy blanket, on top of a cargo tray of course.
We feel sound never has been a problem with our 5 door.
