This one had 4 tail pipes & had a serious go from the traffic lights... I was a car length ahead after about 200m & wasn't even doing a drop clutch start.

If u're up against a M6, then probably the driver forgot to push the 'Sport' button.

Just checked BMW website, your right. When the hell did that happen, it must have been recently. 645 has hardly been out that long and its allready dumped for the 650 wow. Bet youd be pi$$ed off if you bought a 645 and your 50k car is now discontinued.

Yeah i think most likely he is going to sell the 6 series. I mean he hardly gets to drive his 6 series never mind have a 6 series as well as a M5 but he will certainly has both parked together at one point.
Still having either would be a dream

As a result, we now have a 550i, 650i & a 750i.
It seems that nowadays the home of Muscle Cars is Germany, even a mainstream Merc C350 (or E350) has 272bhp.

I'd never buy another BMW. I owned one about 5 years ago (318 IS Coupe), 2 years old when I bought it and had no end of grief for the whole time I owned it (which was only a year because I got rid ASAP).
BMW have an underserved reputation, IMHO, even though they sell unreliable, overpriced cars.
- Intermittent faulty driver side electric window, never fixed
- Intermittent engine cut out when dipping the clutch and allowing revs to drop off - nearly killed me as no brakes or p/steering
- CRAP customer service
- Faulty inlet manifold that BMW tried to make me pay for even though they eventually agreed it was covered by warranty (£400+)
- 6" scratch on bonnet when I picked it up from service at Cooper's BMW (Reading). 3 month "fight" to get them to admit liability
- CRAP customer services

No disrespect to to any SN BMW drivers of course
I even had grief off the salesman BEFORE I'd even bought one.
I was living in Reading at the time so went into Cooper's and spoke to their salesman. He showed me a couple of new 318IS Coupe's and a couple of new 318 Ti Compact's. I decided on a 318IS but couldn't afford a new one so he said he'd try and source an "Approved Used" one for me.
My only specific requirement was "NOT IN GREEN" (I don't like the colour green ).
2 weeks later he phoned me "I've got the perfect car for you, blah blah blah". He went through the whole spec and then told me "It's Boston Green"..!!!! I declined the car.
Anyway, soon after I found myself a red one at Cotswold BMW in Cheltenham which I was chuffed with, (at least until the troubles started ).
About a week later the guy from Cooper's rang me and when I told him I'd found one elsewhere he said "Thanks very much for wasting my time" and hung up.
Cheeky fookin ****.

I've just been checking 6 series photos on the BMW web site, it appears to have been an M6 that tried it on with me as this looks to be the only one with 4 exhaust pipes, also I recognise the rear valance which looks different to the regular 6 series cars.
The specs of the 2 cars looks pretty equal to 60mph (the road was dry), so I shouldn't really have been able to draw out a car length - especially as he got the drop on me. I'll assume either he chickened-out really quick, or he didn't have his iDrive thingy set right.
