advice on newage guage pod
I've been thinking about getting a boost guage fitted to my bugeye and am after some advice.
Thanks in advance!
- Can anyone recommend a good make model of guage?
- Can anyone recommend a good make and model of pod to fit the pillar (if it isn't supplied with the guage)?
- Where's the best place to get one from?
- Are they easy to fit?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks. I've read quite a few posts on here about Defi's and they're obviously the "best of breed" but they seem very expensive.
Are there any alternaives that are good but perhaps not as expensive and complex as Defi's (do the Defi's require the pod, guage and control unit bought seperately?).
I'm really interested in seeing boost and perhaps oil temp, in a pillar pod (or 2).
Is it correct that I'll need to fit an additional sensor for oil temp?
Are there any other considerations when fitting pods and guages?

Defi's are pricey but very simple to install, managed to get some on the cheap via a few other S/N users
AFAIK there is a Autogauge groupbuy going on, oil temp does require a sender to be plumbed in. This can be done by connecting it to the block just under the intercooler near the turbo, (there's a blanked off hole that takes an 8mm hex bit to remove) you'll need an adator to fit the sender. Or you can use a sandwich plate between the oil filter and mount that holds the senders for oil temp/pressure.
All sensors/senders usually are supplied with the guages.
Boost can be simply tapped and 'T' off the dump valve

Thanks richiewong, I'd just spotted the autogauge group buy and am going for the oil temp and boost (BAR) gauges .
Just need to find a good 2 gauge A pillar pod now and a sandwich plate.

I've discovered that if I buy an oil temp gauge I will need to fit the sender to the block above No. 3 cylinder. The part suggested can be bought from http://lma-group.com/motorsport/Prod...ing_parts.html, part number LMA067.
Can anyone confirm which of the following two parts I need for my MY01 bugeye WRX

1/8NPT off the top of me head. That plug abovr the No 3 Cylinder is a b@stard to get out. Sealed tight to stop oil going everywhere, remember to use PTFE tape on all threads

Oh, and if you use PTFE tape you may get a cr@p earth so ethier add an earth to to the sender or hope the sender has an earth connector rather than using its body. It maybe ok, but it will pee you off id you have to strip it all back again to sort out the earth.

I done this to my RB5 and its very easy to connect and I find it has a more accurate reading for temp.
