Times like this you may have wished you had mapped for 95 or 97ron and not 98ron

Btw...optimax is plentiful round here. But I don't need it

Indeed

Why map for a fuel that only one single fuel company provides Might seem like a good idea to teh onwers and indeed the tuners when tuning for max bhp. But it ain't too clever for when you get a bad batch of fuel....or in a situation where you cannot find any. IMO what some of the mapping guys do, takes far too much for granted.

I suppose it would be a bit self righteous of me to come along and spout "it's better to go for a nice broad safety margin on fuel/ignition maps, just incase what is in the tank isn't up to it" LOL

Not really mate just wished we had a fuel service worthy of the 21st Century.

If we still had Donkeys the ******** would manage a hay shortage, oh and dont forget the 80% tax on hay they would bring in.

Four of the seven 'local' Optimax spots round Bristol are still empty ... ended up popping to a Tesco pump and slapping in some 99ron for a test. Will take the old girl out for a spin later to see if any noticeable effects, though I doubt it as I don't notice any tangible effectes when running BP Unlimited or Sainsbury's Super either.
One definite bonus was the difference in price between Optimax & Tesco

I have a standard MY05 WRX, and have been using Optimax since new.

However, I have been told by a Subaru Specialist that it is totally unnecessary to use Optimax/Ultimate/SUL and the car will operate perfectly normally on Premium Unleaded without any detrimental effects.

Anybody confirm this is so?

Are the SUL fuels only for the STi & JDM brigade?

UK cars are mapped for 95 however they do run better on sul, you can feel the differnence as the car can make use of the higher resisitence to knock SUL provides.
