Did you see TopGear tonight? They rated the Golf 5 out of 10 overall and told the audience they should better buy an Impreza Turbo or Accord Type R.
(Nxt year it will still have normal headlights though.)

Yup I saw it and I can't wait until tomorrow as one of the girls at work has one and she keeps telling me how much better it is than my scooby ;-) Obviously she hasn't driven a scooby!!!!

Yea I saw that - made me laugh. Guy at work used to have a 1.8 Gti Turbo, which isn't that much slower and is a better all round car.
The bit that really made me laugh was the CO2 emissions on the alternative fuel test item. Peugeot electric car - zero CO2 - hmmm so where is the electricity produced..a powerstation, no CO2 emissions there then

Ive been test driving the 4motion on and off for the last couple of months. Not to replace the Scooby, but the wifes Polo GTI which is very disapointing. Keep going back to it hoping it would be better than the last time I drove it. Used to own a 1.8T as well and at the dealers have back to backed with the 1.8T. Value for money, handling wise the 1.8T is better value. By the time you add Leather Recaros & Xenon to the 4 Motion you are more expensive than an S3. I'd take the S3 each time if it had 4 doors to keep the wife and kids happy. The 4 motion just rolls too much and the std seats lack support. I'm sure that an Koni/ Eibach spring/damper combination will improve the car 60%.
