Can I disconnect my BOV??????
Can I disconnect my BOV completely on my Classic MY95 import with a TD05 currently running 285bhp.
I have heard this should be ok. Am I right....

sorry brain not working due to nearly empty wine bottel here and the 1/10 scale merc slr r/c car sat in the front room waiting for the battery to charge!!

why would you want to disconnect it completely ? If you're sick of the pssttchhhh then just stick recirulating valve back on instead of vent to atmos.
There's lots of discussions about dump valves on here and I'm still tempted to stick one on coz I just like the sound but I'm 37 now - do I really need to be going "psssttcchhhhh burble psssttcchhhhh" ?
Are there any recircs you can get which are audible without changing to a full induction kit too ?

I havent got the old recirc valve just the hks thats on it. I do have the kit to make it recirculating but with the postioning of the valve I will need to connect about 5 foot of hose to get it back to the original bunged up pipe. If I just disconnect it, the hose of the bov will simply join back on to the old bunged up pipe, all I will need is a connector.
I dont think any of the recirc bov's make much of a noise. I think some you can just hear the valve shutting.

You can take it off but the turbo will stall every time you close the throttle. You could remove the efi as well and fit a sealed blow-through 38DGAS but why..........?

How loud itll be I honestly dont know; its the same noise that youll hear from a GpA or WRC rally car when it changes gear (even though a number of supposedly knowledable 'tuners' tell people to fit a VTA blow off valve to "make the rally noise": *******!).

surely you cannot remove it completely?? when it was made they put one on it, I guess for a reason.
I discovered what happens recently if theres just a small amount of air introduced into the system, as simon will confirm removing the bov will surely make your car stall all the time?
even if you do have to put loads of pipe in, it will only be as much as was in it when it was first made?

I ran for about 10,000 miles without a dump valve on a td05, excellent fun and the MHI units are tough little buggers.
sounds like a fanny fart on compressor stall, but sounds a whoile lot better than the dump from vta and even from recirc.
go for it!

See in the picture just below the hose with the gold pipe that goes to the bov. This is the one I just simply need to join to the one coming from the gold bov pipe.

That was an induction air leak James. When you remove the blow off valve the car will run perfectly well. When you close the throttle the turbo continues to spin pressurising the inlet; when youve removed the blow off valve the pressurised air cant escape so it stalls the turbo.

the small hose to the manifold can be cut as a short stub and just drive a slightly bigger screw into it.
The recirc line back to the inlet pipe/maf should be bunged up already if your running a vta, the other is the connection into the DV, if 99 onwards then its a flanged plate to block the intercooler or if its earlier then you need to bung the hose that runs into the DV.
basically in OE form there are three hoses to/from the recirc DV, make sure all three are bunged up good and tight.
The recirc line back to the inlet pipe/maf should be bunged up already if your running a vta, the other is the connection into the DV, if 99 onwards then its a flanged plate to block the intercooler or if its earlier then you need to bung the hose that runs into the DV.
basically in OE form there are three hoses to/from the recirc DV, make sure all three are bunged up good and tight.
