Default Classic Gearbox RA Price ?

Just selling my type RA gearbox in preperation for a 6 speed and the bank loan to go with it

I was wondering how much it would go for ??

It's the close ratio 5-speed thats come from my 96 jap type RA with 40k on the clock.

Also it has the adjustable diff, will i need to sell it with the box and get a new one to suit a sourced six speed or will the new car need the diff to go with the gearbox anyway ??

How much do you think and for what. Any help is greatly appreciated as i save for my six speed box

Chris.

I wouldnt bother if I were you. What exactly will you gain fitting a six speed gearbox out of a later car when you already have close ratios DCCD and a low final drive?

My point is: why bother, because you wont end up with 6 under driven ratios will you? Its a while since I looked into fitting a 6MT, but Im under the impression that youll end up with possibly 5 under driven ratios (at most, probably 4) and one over driven one (probably 2 with one being massively over-driven). Off the top of my head; wouldnt you be better off fitting the 4.111:1 final drive ratios of an A-Series Type-RA? Youll lose the sedate motorway cruising that an over-driven top gear offers, but who wants to cruise in peace on a motorway?

Are you saying that the transplant is required principally for stronger bearings?

I've been told that i will need one to cope with the huge amount of torque that will be thrown at it witha 500bhp engine.
Do you think it will handle it? i see your point as i love the close ratio box with the diff and it's going to cost me another 2k on the cost to include a gearbox.

In the private market the sale of a gearbox is gonna be less than we would charge because we are obliged to put a warranty on anything we do and that has to be paid for.

A TY 752 type dccd privately should make £700 - £800, We'd charge £1000

a TY754 type dccd which is stronger is worth £800 - £900 privately and we'd want £1200.

Don't dream about using a TY752 for any length of time on a 2.5 making decent power it will shred in no time at all.
