Default cam belts

how often should you change the cam belt on a 1994 (uk) imp turbo,and approx how much is a new belt?, my last belt cost me £109 fitted (6years ago) since then my car has done approx 45k ,86k in total, below average ?

i think the intervals for cambelt change is every 30k so if urs was 45k ago yours well overdue! i just had mine done and the belt cost about 70quid and 40quid to fit. while your there might aswell change the other drive belts too as they have to come off to fit the cambelt.

also the tensioner and pullys should be looked at. not sure how long tensioners last but worth changing with the mileage you have on there.

i have a brand new cambelt here that i dont need that will fit a uk if your interested, 40quid and its yours.

My mate works for Gates Rubber company in Dumfries that make all the car manufactures cambelts in the world!

Im sure he can get hold of some Impreza ones!

I would advise anyone to change a belt after 3yrs maximum..... i have one snap on me after 3 yrs and 8 months, i had only just bought the car (not scoob) and was gonna change the belt the following weekend.....the belt going destroyed the engine.... not good
