Default Has my clutch had it??

MY99 31K

When revving quite high and I put my foot on clutch slighty while still on accelerator pedal it makes the most awful grinding/rattling noise. This does not happen at lower revs

Anyone got any advice...

Much appreciated..

any other symptons, ??? is it slipping under load ??, could be clutch bearing but i would expect some slip with that, any gear selection problems, as it sounds more boxey to me i m afraid. does it ever pop out of gear, struggle to change, ?

Are you trying to launch? Coz the way to do it is, push the clutch in THEN rev to about 4000-5000rpm then dump the clutch and you're away

Your way sounds like it could be causing damage m8

No other symptons. Doesn't feel like it is slipping when in gear and no jumping out of gear.

I am not trying to launch - relish my driveshaft too much for that...

I have only had the car a week or so and first noticed this noise when I was changing gear at high revs. Maybe its my gear changing techniquw but I had obviously put the clutch down just before I had lifted off the gas when this noise then occured. I then found the easiest way to demonstrate the noise was to do as I said and run the revs high in 2nd (for instance) and then slightly depressing the clutch without lifting.

I know this isn;t the done thing but still something must be wrong.....

It's probably you're brake pipes rattling against the bulk head.

The brake lines run through some little connectors which attach to the bulkhead of the car.
These can vibrate when you press the clutch and make a loud rattling noise.
Basically open the bonnet and you will see them attached to the bit which seperates you from the engine!
