Default I'm in the middle of fixing rocker cover oil leak

Hi everybody!

As I said in the title... I pick up the new gaskets (full sets) tomorrow from Subaru.
I'm doing both sides as the passenger side was weeping slightly aswell.
I already have both the covers off ready, is there anything I should or shouldn't do before fitting the new gaskets?
I was going to use silicone sealer to hold the gasket in place, is this a bad idea?

Just make sure the sealant goes where it should. You don't want any of that lodging itself in any of the oilways.

I did this as soon as I got my 1994 WRX last year.

Just make sure that both surfaces are nice and clean, free of grit. I know it sounds daft but make sure the gasket is located properly in it's place. It's a bit of a squeeze so take your time and make sure it's done properly.

I'd avoid using some silicone sealant if possible as the new gaskets should do the job as lond as you are changing the half moons as well.

Good luck with it!!

Ben

there is a grey gasket sealant available by 'loctite',you could use this aswell but only a thin film of it.AFAIA,most Jap cars have some of this from the factory, including Scoobs.
