someone made a good point on another post a day or so ago that most stuff on ebay is there for a reason ie noone locally is interested having been in autotrader or similar.

..... and had it been an STI it wouldnt have a red inlet manifold and itd make 250PS only. The point is that theres a lot of nonsense talked about Imprezas and little real knowledge.
When ever cars like this are advertised as having 280BHP take it as a warning to stay away!

Cant check the advert on EBAY as its blocked on works computer. But all the comments about most cars on EBAY are there for a reason as they cant sell them locally is p i s h. I sold my last car on EBAY and have had emails from the buyer stating he is delighted with the car so not eveyone is a fraudster. Plus people use EBAY as it is the largest market place for buyin g and selling cars, fact, so why use another source to sell your car if they have a smaller audience??
OK there are con men on EBAY but get an HPI check b4 you buy or go and see the car or get an inspection done. The vast majority of cars, by miles, are correctly advertised, its no different than buying a car at an auction or privately. Its sold as seen. If you ask proper questions to the seller but when you goto collect its different then its false advertising and you are not obliged to buy it.
Saying that he will probably have fecked off with your deposit, if you payed one.
If you have a few doubts probably better to leave it.

I asked him a Q, along the lines of :
"hi , could I have the model code because am a bit confused.
The wagons in excess of 260 bhp didnt come out until MY97, and then it was the sti version. As I can see yours isnt an MY97 (post facelift), and also an L plate. Therefore it could only be 250 bhp if it was an sti, otherwise 220."
