dont know about the flush,More importantly was this a scooby specialist? And was the filter pre-filled before fitment? You wont be the first to have an engine let go shortly after a service,Often due to oil starvation to the bearings from not filling the filter.

i cant see the problem in using a flush TBH, so long as its taken out because what it does is thin down the oil to make it drain easier. so you dont want any left in when refilling.
the more import issue would be is that it has it has the correct amount of oil in now.
i may be wrong about the flush, i may well be corrected here

we never use flushes in high performance cars, most specifically Subaru's.............................
you may find the oil has been over-filled and this can lead to various problems potentially causing engine failure
to be fair to the garage, Type-R's are notoriously bad when it comes to fuel so may not be connected at all??

personally i would never use engine flush in an engine that has covered a decent ammount of miles and never ben flushed before........ used to use it in all the customers cars at work, thought id try it my astra sri,80k covered and nothing wrong with it engine wise, flushed it when changing the oil and filter and pretty quickly the crank started to knock on start up..maybe a coincidence maybe not,i wont be trying it in the scoob thats for certain

Thank you for your replies. The general concensus being do not use engine flush when changing the oil, do you think i stand a chance of getting some sort of commpensation from the garage, being that they are reputable establishment being not worried by the fact that it way a subaru?
thanks
Chris

i hate to put a bit of a downer on it, but its going to be a hard time getting it before the engine lets go, if in fact it does, i would probably take it to a subaru specialist ASAP to get it checked out.
is it wrote antwhere that you must NOT use an engine flush in your car. Because before now, i would have said you could, personly i have never had a problem with the stuff, that said and here read, i dont think i will use it on mine if i ever get it back now

Get an independent witness to verify the overfilled oil before it goes away to the garage - ask the RAC

before the rac left he left a customer satisfaction card, with a comment on the bottom stating that the oil level was too high.the garage called when the car went in to say that the oil level was fine and that it was holding oil pressure but the big ends were rather noisy!!!
Going in to see him 2moro and see where we go from here!I still cant believe he put flushing solution in the car.
Watch this space!!!
Thank you for all your comments.

Well today they have drained the sump and found the remains of one of the shells in the oil.Looks like they are going to take out the engine but im still not getting any real answers from them on who is responsible as they have not found anything wrong other than the fact the big ends have gone.ill know more on wednesday.
All i want is my car back in the condition i left it with them.looks like that may be a long way off!!!
