Unmarked Scooby Police car
#1
Just thought I would let you guys know that there is a Dark Mica Blue Scooby police car on the A61 Ripon road North Yorks.
I spotted him yesterday during my travels. He'd pulled over a Fiesta or something.
I saw him again on my way back, I waved but he didn't seem interested (strange that ).
Thanks to everyone else that waved, nice to feel that I'm not making a fool of myself.
Cheers

Pete W,
Yep that's the one.
Moss,
It's a 4dr MY99? with high spoiler and like Pete said it has the PIAA driving light conversion and two small rectangular blue lights behind the rediator.
Also the rear (fog lights?) flash alternate.
On the same subject, Skipton police have three scoobies. Two white marked ones and a DMB unmarked (4dr). All have the PIAA lights and have been Prodrive performance packed.
Skipton ones waved though .
Keep 'em peeled.

Manfield, Notts. (M1 j27-j29 & A38 etc)
Have two 4 doors and a five door, all with Prodrive packs and are fully marked.
A friend in the force say they plan two unmarked versions later this year.
Cheers

How do you guys spot the unmarked cars?
I mean apart from seeing one pull over someone else (when they have lights flashing, etc.).
How else can you spot them at enough distance to make a difference?
I get paranoid whenever I see a car with 2 mirrors, more than a single aerial, or anything that seems to be following me in the dark (no psychoanalysis required thanks).

How do you spot em,
In the case of the DBM Skipton motor, its usually sitting in a gateway on a Sunday near Ingleton (N. Yorks) waiting for unsuspecting bikes and Scooby peeps.
BTW The Skipton ones sound wonderful
Mark.

AWD,
I look for the following in unmarked cars:-
2nd rear view mirror
Camera on dash
Clean
No stickers
Normally less than 3 years old
Rear parcel shelf lights/displays
Officer(s) in uniform sitting in the front
A plethora of aerials is not always the case either.
I sometimes wonder if would be easier to drive at the speed limit than gawp at every possible unmarked car...
Jerome.

The N. Yorks blokes came to the NW summer bash at John Wildings, Kendal with their marked one. They even confirmed one of our members radar detector was working!
They told us about the DBM unmarked one then.
Anyway what are you worried about? They are only after speeding nurks and anti-social drivers eg Cavalier Clown.
Not us surely?

Jerome - Thanks for that. That's basically what I look for. I was hoping that you guys had another cunning way that I wasn't aware of.
I also wonder sometimes about the benefits of never ever speeding vs. being watchful for unmarked cars. It always seems to get forgotten though when I get in the car.
