Default Optimax

I've just brought a WRX, is Optimax ok to run it on? N e info will be handy....

It should be OK on Optimax. Some will suggest that octane booster should be used too but I've run several imports on Optimax alone without any problems. Don't use normal 95 RON unleaded though.

depends if UK or import....


If uk wrx then you can run on 95-97 ron no probs.

If import i believe you need to get as close as you can to 100RON

You can run on 95RON if yours is a standard UK spec New Age WRX (not STi mind) - but for optimum performance 98/99RON.

If it's a classic (old shape pre 00) WRX then it is a Jap import and may not have been remapped for our 95-98 RON fuel as Japs get 100RON. Until you know it would be safer to run steady on Optimax or use booster if you drive aggressively. If it hasn't been remapped for UK fuel then you've just found out about your 1st mod If however it's a newage car (00 on, bugeye/blobeye/hawkeye) then it's OK on 95RON if it's standard or any SUL 97RON and above if PPP'd or modified in any other way.

Also use Tesco Super Unleaded 99 Ron petrol!!!

Yeah our Tesco just got this 99 Octane stuff which I put in just after pickin up the car, but sounds like Optimax should be ok.....
