Just want to say...
HELLLLLOOOOOO!
Im new to this forum! So thought I would introduce myself!!
My name is France, I'm 19 and female, and from the Shropshire area.
I will be getting a wrx in the next few weeks.
You've probably been asked this a million times, but... Is there any thing I need to look out for when viewing a wrx? I'm not sure on what to look out for!

well in that case I would have it HPI'd (standard really) and inpected by the RAC. Extra cash I know but could prove very worth while.
Only buy from an enthusist who know's their stuff. Ask where and how often it's been serviced, and what fuel it's been run on. Ideally you are looking for a wad or reciepts etc.
Make sure all of the gears work, take the up to speed, watch out for smoke on start up, check out the panel gaps and make sure they're all uniform. Make sure the tyres are good, you don't want a £400 bill within the first few months. Make sure the tickover is nice and steady when warm, no rising and falling. Check the clutch by selecting 5th at say 30 and nailing it, if the revs rise but speed doesn't walk away.
There are stacks around, so you can take your time. There's a lot of good advice on here as well. Generally though just take your time, I've lost count of the peeps who have fell in love with the burble, only to have it go pop a month later. (and that's a bill you don't want!)
If you can, take along an extra pair of eyes, they'll always spot something that you might not.
Good luck anyway

I would also warn that when you test drive, if the gearbox makes a slight grinding noise going into 3/4/5th gears at 3k+ rpm's, walk away. It won't be a big, graunchy noise but you will notice it and feel it through the gearstick.
You may also notice a whirring/whooshing noise start at around 2.5k rpm's, this is the turbo spooling up . However if it is VERY loud or sounds 'grindy' (bad desciption but I can't think of another word!) - walk away as the turbo is probably on its way out.
Finally, check the exterior cosmetics. Has the front splitter been kerbed and re-glued, do the front fog lamps have any stone chips (£80 new to replace), are there many door dings, have the wheels been badly kerbed, etc.
All usual stuff and not necessarily something to stop you buying the car (unless it's obvious it's been abused!) - but it may give you some ammunition when trying to negotiate a better price.
Good Luck and welcome to SN. Look forward to seeing some pics!

Welcome, hope you find a good example. Take your time, it's very very much a buyers market, especially for early imports. Buy privately from a real enthusiast, check the classifieds on here. I'd agree with the above advice of getting a full inspection done by the RAC / AA when you think you've found the right car, money definately worth spending. If the insurance causes problems look at a UK car, much more affordable.
p.s. you'll come to regret posting a pic, it just encourages these guys, lol.

OMG! YOU'RE getting an Impreza & HE wants an RX7, two of the most cash-consuming, "wrap-'em-up-in-cottonwool or suffer the consequences" cars around!
You'll both be bankrupt by the time you're 21, never mind, at least you'll have had some fun!

Classic wind up.
So will you get a carbon bonnet, large exhaust, strange rear lights(after burners IIRC), blue squirter light bulbs( ), wierd spaced number plate, funny front lights and the ability to do donuts outside Teco's?
Brilliant

Welcome to scoobynet
Id keep checking the for sale section and as suggested buy one from a enthuisiast............in theory it should have been looked after.
Could also try places like scoobyclinic and other places as they sell 2nd hand cars just let them know your price range and im sure they could hunt one down for you
Cheers Ash
