Road Cones Policy

There is urgent need for action. Only today two miles of the A540 were coned down to one lane to create room in which to park - wait for it - a cone-laying lorry. In the past I've also noticed seas of cones appearing on the M25 to protect nothing more than a chemical toilet in the fast lane.

I suggest that some kind of regulation is required.


Depending on which party will appoint me I will ...

... require each road cone to carry an up-to-date road tax disc or identity card (Labour)

... follow the French model and allow each workman to buy his own cone (one each). This also would increase their productivity. (Conservative)

... a working party should be formed to understand motorists hostility to road cones and an adopt-a-cone scheme should be put in place (Lib Dem)

... introduce some kind of natural predator to the road cone - perhaps "Swampy" could be coaxed from his natural habitat beneath Manchester airport . (Green Party)
