My subaru is now classed as a chav mobile!
I have a MY00 UK Subaru, It has Speedline ST2's, a TEK 2.5, full de-cat and I have owned it for 4 years. It also has 107,000 miles on the clock.
Why do I get so much stick for it.
I love driving and I also love the fact that I can fix this car, no matter what happens!

Just give in mate - take out that subscription to Max Power, go and buy a burberry baseball cap and some earrings - youre 80% chav by having that car - might as well go for the full 100% eh
This is true! The original generation of Scoob owners who bought when they were enthusiasts cars seem to have all sold their scoob for either a 330d, Fabia vRS!!
But hey if you enjoy driving the car, who cares who laughing at you, and what people think.

i originally sold my Second scoob for a 1.8 LS Cavalier and an R6 but now the winters back in i just cant see myself clattering around in the Cav over the winter as last year i had to de ice the inside of the car as well as the outside!
So this winter ive got my smanking Sti 8, which IMO is not a chav car as they cant afford them! Yet.

..lets explode this chav myth.
1. I haven't yet seen a burburry clad, bling wearing chav in a classic scoob.
2. They all drive novas , astras and corsas.
3. Tell people something enough times and they will believe it...whether it be true or not.
However, i have seen the self proclaimed King of Chavs driving about in an Evo IX in Downham Market in Norfolk.....won too much money for his own good on the lotto.

I've never seen a chav behind the wheel of a scooby either!
They all still stick to their Novas & Corsas round here, with the odd Peugeot thrown in for good measure!
That's the thing about chavs, they stick to what they know & are VERY resistant to change, so as long as there is still a regular supply of Novas, Corsas & Peugeots, I think scoobies are pretty safe generally!

chav is thrown around far too much these days don't help with the ****ing sun celebrating 'chavness' and ' are you a chav tests' wtf??

You say they all drive nova's, astra's and corsa's - but I would also add subaru's to that catagory....
In Bristol yesterday I saw a white classic scoob driving the other way - think 'not bad', then as it gets closer I clock the 2 tossers in it, baseball caps on backwards ffs - the chav imagine for older scoobs is NOT a myth!!!

I`ll have what you`re saying Pete, but they`re also driving Golf GTi`s, old 3 series BMW`s, Toyota Supra`s and anything else that was considered a performance car in it`s day.
As these cars get older, they will always fall into the hands of these people, as they fit the bill of "always desirable, but once unattainable".
I occasionally frequent the Civic Type R forums, as I used to have one, and people on there are also getting cheesed off about this, as their cars, first introduced in early 2001, are now coming down in second-hand value, and also falling into the hands of the "chavs".
This concept will always be the way...............................

I don't think I've seen a "chav" driving any scoobs around Bedfordshire - I've seen a couple of younger guys driving them but they certainly didn't look or behave in such a manner and just assume that they like the cars and can afford to buy them

I am afraid everyone is right, when I purchased my MY99 wagon in July (a car I have always wanted) I was being called a chav by chavs! But like everyone else I don't care, my last car was a BMW so I am used to being called something!

Theres two ways to deal with people laughing at you in the Scoob
Depending on the person
a. This works for old people, drive really slowly. Smile at them and drive like your on your test. Make them feel safe if they're in the car or make them see your safe if out of it. Old people spread the most gosip Also the deep grunt is liked by most old people, they remember the days all "real" cars made that noise... I doubt it like but so I've been told.
b. The business man or taxi driver. Again smile, this really annoys them, wait until there right up your **** or about to over take and floor it, leave them in their Vectra trying to catch you up, then slow right down. Let them catch you up and do it again. Warning this may result in you laughing you head off at some old bloke wishing he had your car.
c. I guess, dont drive
