Maybe the end?
Just got my scooby the way i wanted it. And i mean just, as in today, this afternoon!!!!! So i picked the wife up from work to go for a spot of dinner. Nice meal, little drive round to show her where some friends have just bought a house.
Then on the way round to the folks for a cuppa, waiting to turn right and some ***** in a p reg corsa decided that the nearside rear of my scooby was a good few inches too long and that he'd modify it for me . There was no screech of brakes just full on 40 mph into the back of it. Not a happy bunny. Still main thing is that other than a few bruises and a stiff neck and back everyone is ok.
I fear that it'll be a write off as it's only an L reg classic wrx and value will be low. It'll need a new boot, bumper, nearside rear tail light, exhaust, rear quarter (it's been tucked under), spare wheel well and the boot floor is nice and crumpled!!!
You should see the front of the corsa!!! that's a good foot and a half shorter than it used to be!!!
Can anyone recommend a good bodyshop in the essex area? I might even take it to subaru as i want it done properly and not some bodge job.
So keep your eyes peeled. i might be offering a lot of spares for sale soon.

yup i think so too. it doesn't look horrendus but it will still need all that work done so will still cost £££££.
i wonder if i can sue him for the rest of the value for what i paid for it over what the insurance company will offer me for it?
i know one thing injury lawers direct will be getting a call!!!

my good luck must have rubbed off on you !
I bought a scooby last year and had nothing but problems with it. It took me a year to get it running correctly and basically the way I wanted it. I had an Apexi Power FC and a few other things fitted which cost me £1k. The following day someone drove into me writing the car off. That was 7 months ago and I'm still waiting on the insurance pay out !
My next project was a toyota MR2. I have been collecting bits for a ferrari 355 conversion. Finally got a kit last week and this week some disqualified van driver decides to drive into me pushing me into 2 parked cars

fraid not,,,
all you can hope to claim is...
the book value of your vehicle, your xcess from matey, and your uninsured losses..
they wont pay out more than its worth, so you need lots of photo,s evidence that it was in tip top condition serviced etc, and your mods were declared!!!

val113r - once you get a scooby in the system you can't get away from them!!!!
called my insurance company this morning and because mine's an import i probably won't get a courtesy car. still they've said that i can take it to subaru if i want or any other garage i choose to get a quote for getting it sorted.

if you were to talk to days about the repairs, they'd probably send you to brockley road bodyworks (that's what happened to me when a van reversed into the side of the front bumper).

A shunt at 40mph will be a write off. Unless someone is exaggerating on their speeds..anything above 20mph impact speed is usually enough to bend the roof on most cars
Also NEVER let your car go to the insurers recomended repairers, main dealers "farmed out" repairs can be suspect too.

OK, go on, scare me. Why never to the insurers recomended repairers? Someone ran into mine whilst it was parked recently, and her insurance company handled it all (thus I didn't have to make a claim). Rear offside damage, not too severe. Just got the car back yesterday after being at the body shop a week. Looks OK....but....?
So, what are the risks I have just run?
Chris.

there's a few pics in the gallery. i'll take some more later to show inside the boot. and the crease on the rear 1/4 under the boot line.
cheers for the hint about the farmed out main dealer repairs.

Took my own MY93 WRX to the dealer-recommended repairer after it was rear-ended.
They did a reasonable job of the repair (bit heavy with the sealant around the rear panel above the lights, which you can see when you open the boot).
They also polished (sanded?) the paintwork (always hand polished) and now the car's covered in swirl marks. For good measure, they added a few extra scratches into the paintwork where they must have dragged cables over the bodywork.
Unfortunatelly I needed the car (their estimate of 3 working days turned out to be 6) so decided not to bring this to their attention....after all, if that was the best they could do........
You do not need to take the car to the insurer's recommended garage - you can take it wherever you want.

car's being looked at by the insurance company tomorrow. just wondered if anyone knew where i stand if they repair it as far as future value is concerned?
i would hope that i would have got about £4k for the car prior to the accident but if it get's repaired it can surely only be worth about £2500? fine i'll have my car back but i'll be out of pocket when it comes to selling.

now i know why people avoid imports. the insurance loss adjustor has said that they want definite parts prices before they go ahead with repairing the car. the garage that i have taken the car to has asked subaru for the prices. the reply was "we need the chassis number to fax to japan so that they can tell us the part numbers. we can then order them from japan and work out how much they'll cost". basically it's put the nail in the coffin for my car imo, as i can see the parts working out to be rather expensive!!!
all thanks to some spotty, fat 18 year old that doesn't know how to pay attention when driving. cheers mate.

mate i'm sorry to hear that
try central subaru in Willenhall, near Wolverhampton
01902 636286 ask for Andy
stunning garage mate, and one of the few that look after imports as a speciality.
it'll be worth the drive, and if its an insurance job, i'm sure they can arrange to get it picked up.

But a UK one will fit like for like. Have a chat with the Subaru dealer and perhaps some specialists like Xtreame or Scoobyclinic could advise the loss adjuster, who seems to tar every import with the same brush.
