What is it realistically worth....
Hi all,
I have to sell my subaru (due to all the usual reasons combined!!! co. car, moving house, child on the way!!!!!!)
I just don't know what it is realistically worth!? I have looked around and not found a good comparisson to give me an idea of the price... can anyone help me out.
it is a 1999 Impreza 2000 Turbo AWD (british spec) facelift model (with the high level rear spoiler) saloon.
it has:
Full service history and all the usual subaru extras. It really is in excelent condition inside and out! and I have a big wad of reciepts...
it is standard except:
It has the STI exhaust
I fitted some High performance DENSO uridium spark plugs at the last service.
it is due a service, and i will do the brake pads and put on 4 new tyres in addition to the service.
here is the bit that makes it difficult:
it has 120K miles on the clock, but had a new engine at 85K
so what is it realistically worth?
cheers,

Trouble is:
glasses guide lists at 3700.. but makes no allowance for the fact that the actual engine only has35K miles on it...
also, I have trawled through Autotrader and not found one 1999 impresa turbo (uk) saloon with 100+K miles or not, trade or private, for anywhere near as little as 3700...
its a bit annoying really...
not convinced i will get 6K though!?

Parkers says £5,700 but that's with 60,000 miles.
And to some people, there will be concern as to why the engine has been changed and thus what else on the car will go - gearbox, clutch etc? Can easily work against you. I reckon you try 5k but be prepared to go lower at some time if you get no nibbles - 120k is a lot of miles!

just to add something to the mix;
I got 6k for my MY00 DBM, similar spec level, but less than half the miles. Pretty much mint aside from a dodgy steering wheel for some reason...
The market is completely flooded, it's more of a question of can you afford to sell the thing, rather than keep it.

120k miles will put most people off ...... sadly, all you can work on is the price (and what price would you NOT sell for??!!)
Try at £4950?
Do NOT state the recent engine until they ask/if they ask .... it's not as good a selling point as you may think!! people won't mind a 120k miles car if it still has all its original running gear (they will wonder why an engine was needed/who fitted it/recon or new) too complicated!!

Just the wrong time of year to be selling, if you can keep it over winter and sell in the spring.
Glasses guide are trade trade ins ( e.g. the minimum a dealer can get away with offering you as part ex ), so are loads lower than what you'd get for a private sale, or what a dealer would sell the car for on the forecourt, hence the difference in prices compared to autotrader.
