Hi
I've just come back from a weekend in Groningen. I travelled via Dover-Calais (on the ferry because it was half the price of the chunnel, who wanted £219 ). I drove up through Ostende, Gent, Breda, Utrecht, Assen and all on motorway. Took me 6 hours once I had left Calais (hit Utrecht at rush hour ) to get there but only took 4 1/2 hours back. Next time I will look at Harwich to the hook instead. Its only a 3 1/2 hour crossing and cuts out lots of motorway (especially Belgium ). Once you hit England though I think the distance to Cheltenham is about the same from either Harwich or Dover. It all depends on whether you travel on boats well or not
Hope this helps!
Steve.

Booking the Chunnel this side was 80quid last weekend.
Booking from home has never been less than 193.
We get an unbelievably raw deal in Blighty.
And it makes me very cross indeed.

Hi there!
In the first weekend of november we, 4 dutch/belgian, "scoobys" come to the UK to go to Powerstation (for the bumpsteer-adj & a power-run) and Mira (for "Better the Wetter");
What is the best way to come over and go back (come friday-afternoon, back sunday-afternoon/evening); "best" as a combination of 'time-short' and 'low price'?
And somebody knows a good/fair-priced hotel in/nearby Cheltenham (fri-ev) and Mira (sa-ev)?
All the cars are chip-tuned and "like/need" SUL 98RON. So we want to use a octane-booster (f.e. Millers+); where can you buy it?
Thanks for replying!!

Yep, we do get a raw deal! He wouldn't budge on £219 either. I told him that I would take 2 cheap day returns instead (worked out about £90) and he refused!!! 8astard!!! I was told that as I was travelling back at 2am, if I could travel before 6am out then it would have been £159. BIG DEAL!!!

Thanks for tips till now
also suggestions for hotel and octane booster?
grt Geert
PS live nearby Nijmegen / german border.
Nearby are several german 'tracks' (f.e. A73-77 the first 50 miles into Germany: Nijmegen - Gennep - Goch - Krefeld - Köln) where you can really try out top-speed: no speedlimits, nice good asphalt, bit hilly, long staight lanes, slow curves, not so much traffic, and, you 're also nearby Nurnburg-Ring for the 'real thing'!
