1) Depends whether its just prodrive styling (i.e. Cosmetic mods) or Prodrive Perfromance pack PPP (power upgrade)
2) Yes, marginally in the first instance, more substantial in the latter.
3) For your age group, somewhere like Admiral/Elephant. Expect quotes in the £1500 bracket. Many companies will not touch under 25s or give you a stupidly high quote.

are all wrx turbo's? i believe its just the styling, i wouldent of brought a normal wrx i think they have ruined the looks abit to much for me, but the one im lookin at looks nice 18inch gold alloys, sti spoiler and a nice dark blue colour,
from the test drive dont seem as fun as the elise but need something more reliable with lower runnin costs.
im with admiral at the minute but they dont have wrx prodrive on there list, is mine classed as a wrx awd?

RUN AWAY NOW!!! These are not cheap cars!! And if you scrimp on them, bang goes the reliability!
You REALLY need to do your homework before getting one of these.

I totally agree with new_scooby_04 this is not the way to go if you dont want to pay out for running costs! I have had a good chat with a mate of mine who had an Elise and he thinks they are very cheep to run! They are even cheeper than my Ibiza Cupra i had! and i though that was not too bad for the power etc etc.. Get ready to dig deep into your pocket mate!
P.S Im not trying to put you off!

There are various different 'Prodrive' components you can buy for your WRX so it depends whether you're referring to the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP) and/or Prodrive styling.
If you're talking about PPP, you get:
- Recaliberated engine management system
- High flow intercooler hose
- Stainless steel sports exhaust backbox
(http://www.subaru.co.uk/IMGGB/WWW/Su...0WRX%20PPP.pdf)
If you mean styling, take your pick. You can get Prodrive gearknobs, stickers, spoilers, etc. (http://www.prodrive.com/defaultflash.asp?M=5)

i know what ur sayin adz turbo, i dont mind the servicing, and the petrol etc, its the reliability im lookin for, its one thing or another with my elise and its really starting to **** me off, scoobys from what i know are reliable, and a whole lot more than my elise,
They are reliable but not cheap, I've spent 2 1/2 grand on mine since I bought it on May 9th this year.
£440 for 30k service
£100 for replacement fog lamp + lamp covers
£350 for front discs and pads (badly fitted pads scored discs)
£1588 for gearbox rebuild
(+ £100 plus for Magnex Oval and decat centre section
)
My car is an '51 plate bugeye with FSSH and only done 29k miles. In all fairness I have had all the work done by a Subaru main dealer so I could have had it done cheaper.
Don't let this put you off though, I'm shelling out £750 for a remap (+ fuel pump) soon

Elise's aren't cheap either though, especially if you stick with main dealers, I had a B service + 2 new rear tyres + replacement passenger window on my old Sport 160 and the bill was the best part of a grand. Again it could have all been done cheaper by using specialists and direct sourcing. At the end of the day its a K series (or mine was) but services at Lotus prices.

Can I suggest you get a little more info about your car before you purchase it, buy a dud and these things could cost you a fortune, and it doesn't sound like your a scooby expert (neither am I btw). There are a lot of people on here who can probably help but you will need to post more specific info about the car.
Rgds

PS No offence meant in anyway

none taken mate, well its got fssh, 2001 wrx prodrive, with 45k miles,
seems as though its had no corners cut, everything been done at subaru etc, condition of the car is mint looks like its been looked after, have a years parts and labout warranty with the car, which is ur general warranty, not covering parts that wear out etc.
is there anything i should look for?

hey tonner, try A Plan for your insurance,
As for buying a scooby, the most important is to buy a good condition one, some people have trouble but since buying mine 3 years ago, touch wood its been superb, i treat it properly and service it regulaly and never had any problems.
Just gotta buy a well look after one in the first place.
As for insurance, they wont mention prodrive as part of the car make, your would simply be a 2001 wrx turbo or something similar

when i called my insurance admiral, they have wrx awd, thats the only one it could be, i wasent sure if it was right so dint arrange anything,
the only other wrx's they list where sti's etc,
and wrx on there list only starts at 2004, so would it class as a wrx awd?
they dint know what prodrive was either, should i mention it get them to make a note on the policy so if i do make a claim they cant come up with anything to slime out of coughing up?

a 2001 WRX AWD is fine, that certainly describes the car OK.
The things you ned to look out for i think are
1) Does it have a prodrive performance pack, if yes and you don't declare it then it is likely they won't pay up
2) 18inch alloys and STi spoiler are not standard on any normal UK wrx that I'am aware of, so again these are mods over and above the basic WRX AWD.
Hope this helps, but I have feeling it will just add to the confusion

You need to be sure what you have bought (buying), for your insurance...if it is a 2001 bug eye, then it is a 'WRX AWD', on UK cars they started to call them WRX from the bug eye on, like earlier posters mentioned it could be a 'Prodrive style', which just means a few cosmetic bits so insure as a 2001 WRX Prodrive (most insurers will list this), or it could be a WRX with the 'Prodrive Performance Pack' (PPP), which is a dealer fit performance mod package.
If it has PPP you should declare this to your insurers, it is not the same as the 'WRX Prodrive', and will not be on their list as it is not a model in its own right, most insurers will then just insure it as a WRX with engine & exhaust mods...
Can you be more specific about the car you are looking at?
If it has PPP it should have a blue Prodrive branded hose under the intercooler (easy to spot) and a round tailpipe with Prodrive on it - does it have these?

Sounds like its not a PPP then or he would have said, but do check, if it is a PPP'd car you need to insure as such...if your insurers dont list WRX 'Prodrive style', suggest you insure as a WRX and declare the non standard wheels, spoiler and exhaust mods..
PPP does not change the grouping as it is not a recognised model, but with some companies it is a recognised modification package, with others it has to be declared as exhaust & engine mods. They then load the premium accordingly..
FYI, with my last insurer they charged £100 for diff wheels, £100 for exhaust and another £150 for diff springs.. so I found a new insurer who did not load for such mods, there are a few out there who dont charge the earth for common mods like these..

the car has just exhaust, spoiler and alloys, which has bumbed up my premium to which to swap my car over is now going to cost me 150 quid. where as when i got the quote without mods i would of had a little back, my insurance runs to the end of this year, is the only thing to do pay the extra premium and wait till it runs out to swap companys? or is there anything else i can do?
I'd pay the £150 and change at renewal (assuming you can get someone covering the mods cheaper).. be crazy to not declare the mods for the sake of £150.. I was in a similar situation when I got covered for my mods, stuffed for a year paying £1,000, changed my insurer at the end of the year, went down to £630!
well i paid almost 2k on my elise, and got to pay 150 quid more but with admiral will come down to 1600 at end of year with 2years ncb and im 22.
do you think i would get a better price anywhere else?
my insurance is only for 10months, bonus accelarator scam or somet

Couldn't say, but a lot of people on here have gone with A-Plan recently, they seem to be pretty good on Imprezas at the moment, have a surf in the insurance section on here should give you an idea of what others are paying..
