was offered £12,800 for 54 plate wrx with a few extras an £20k miles from a dealer (Slip End Garage), so i reckon you could probably get about £14000-14500 from the right dealer.

Good luck. You're up against new UK-spec imports for the same money, and whilst they're not PPP'd or limited editions they're, er, new.
I was offered 10k as a trade in from multiple places for 2 year old 03 wagon; residuals stink at the moment, and I don't think insurance is helping. Plus you're trying to sell a thirsty car when people have had petrol prices once again brought fully to their attention.
My advice?
keep it, and enjoy it. You'll be taking a massive hit if you sell it now, so you might as well keep it for 2 more years and enjoy the thing

Look at this, seller claims similar cars are selling for £15K. Yeah, course they are!

Seriously though, if it doesnt go this time then **** the missus and **** the newly acquired 6 points, i'm keeping it - and the Skoda Fabia Vrs I've ordered as a company car.
I'll just have to work a little harder and earn a bigger bonus

I'm of the opinion that I might as well take some loss now, rather than taking a larger loss in 12 months. In 12 months it may only be worth 13/14k max. So if i can shift it at 16/17k now, I might as well take a 3/4k loss than a 6/7k loss later on.
At the end of the day you gotta accept the loss you take on driving off the forecourt, selling it on day two, or year two really makes no difference as the money is lost regardless- holding onto it is just our way of phsycologically justifying that the loss happened over a long period of time, rather than one day, which in fact it did!
